Marci S. Thomas, CPA, MHA

Marci Thomas, CPA, MHA is a Principal and Director of Quality Control with Metcalf-Davis in Atlanta, GA where she specializes in audits and consulting for not-for-profit and governmental entities, particularly educational institutions and healthcare organizations. Her clients include colleges and universities, independent schools, physicians, hospitals, nursing homes, and health plans. Marci is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she teaches consulting, strategy and governance, and finance. Marci also writes and teaches continuing education programs in the areas of risk assessment, internal control, governance and grant compliance.

Marci received her Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting from the Georgia State University and her Masters in Health Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She conducts approximately 60 full day training sessions a year and is a frequent speaker at local, regional and national conferences. She is the author of Essentials of Physician Practice Management (Jossey Bass) and Best of Boards: Sound Governance and Leadership for Nonprofit Organizations (AICPA), which was published in June 2011. Marci serves on the audit committee of the Marine Conservation Biology Institute. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs’ Peer Review Committee and the North Carolina Association of CPAs’, Not-for-Profit Committee. Marci is licensed as a CPA in Georgia and North Carolina.
